Miss Galaxy International put on her crown and added a touch of sparkle to Little Havens at a cheque presentation.
Since winning the title of Miss Galaxy International 2009 in July, Hayley Mac, 25, from Grays, has been busy raising vital funds for Little Havens Children's Hospice, which costs in excess of £2.3 million to run annually.
Hayley visited Little Havens last week to say hello to 2 year old Ruby Walsh and to present her with the proceeds from her latest fundraising event with a cheque for £610! Ruby's face lit up as the sparkle from Hayley's crown danced across her face in the sun.
Hayley, who has a Degree in Humanities and hopes to work with children with special needs and disabilities, is now in the midst of training hard for the next London Marathon on behalf of Little Havens.
Hayley says, 'Being Miss Galaxy International has given me an opportunity to work closely with Little Havens. I am so excited that I was able to raise this much money for Little Havens in one evening. The marathon is my next challenge and the biggest one yet! I've always wanted to do it as it's such a special event to take part in. I am really dedicated to my training, and it can be really tough but I have got to keep pushing myself. I just want to complete the race in a decent time and raise as much money as possible for Little Havens.'
Little Havens Children's Hospice provides respite breaks, symptom control and end-of-life care for youngsters living with serious conditions and who are not expected to reach adulthood. It aims to make their journey - and that of the family - as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way.
The love and care provided by the Care Team in the homely surroundings at Little Havens is as special and unique as the child. This could not continue without kind donations as it costs £2.3 million each year to keep the hospice open.
